Disconnect Fees and Problems (350 reviews)
Slow to send bills...quick to hit you for an extra $20.00
“ My history is 4 mos into 6 mo. contract with GM.I believe they LIE! They Scam by pushing you so close to the due date to collect their $20.00 for a disconnect letter. They tell you they send the bills out on 10/13/ & you get it in the mail 16 days later with the due date 2 days after that. I live in Houston..Duh... they are in Austin & they blame it on the mail system. If you write a check it takes them 14 days to process...bingo $20.00 disconnect letter. But the TX Utilities Comm. is to blame also for them getting away with this. Beware they all do it. Glad I can pay online, but what about those without online access...this is just WRONG! ”

Transfer Service
“ I transferred service recently, the initial customer representative confirm everything is okay with the transfer. Down the road, my service was disconnected. I called AEP, they explained need minimum payment never told originally. If there's another provider in my area I would consider new service. ”

Disconnection notice after they apparently applied my payment to the wrong account
“ I received a late notice about a week after my bill was due in January 2024. I checked my bank and it showed an EFT in the full amount of the bill cleared the bank and was paid to XOOm on the day it was due. I figured it was just a hiccup in their system and disregarded it. This week I received a disconnection notice, saying the bill had not been paid. I called customer service and was told I had not paid the bill even though I had a reference number from the bank showing the bill had been paid in full to XOOM. Customer service said billing could not find the reference number and they would do an investigation to determine whose account that nearly $200 went into but that I still owned them the full amount or risked having my gas turned off next week. These folks have some issues. ”
