Bait and switch
“ Was in a contract for some time at a low price, but when the contract expires if you don't remember they will charge you predatory rates to make up for it instead of actually charging you reasonable amounts. We got hosed for a few hundred because of this, needless to say I'll be steering people away from them for the foreseeable future. This will cost them way more than simply doubling my bill. ”

What a scam
“ Was told I was getting a gift card for being with my local energy provider. I was adamant that I did not want to switch providers or raise my electric bill. After looking me up and having me sign an agreement to send me the gift card that they would not let me read. I was signed up for NRG that was charging more. I immediately called to cancel with them. They told me they would cancel and have it so I was never in the system. They assured me that there was no need to contact my energy provider to have them stop it and gave me a cancelation code. A week later I got a welcome to NRG email. I called a second time. The cancelation ticket was never submitted by the first person. The second person whom I was hoping would cancel it refused to email me a verification that I did indeed cancel it this second time. I had to contact my local provider to cancel NRG because of how shady their business dealings are. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. ”

Rates
“ When people sign up for a different supplier they expect to get a lower rate than what they er already paying, this one is higher and I am canceling no matter what. I think it's a scam!!! ”

Unprofessional
“
I had called in 3 different times and was on hold for 45+ minutes each time when I was told it would be a brief hold. I even tried the call back option
and was disconnected soon as I answered, and disconnected the other 3 times without a call back. Once I was finally able to get through after 3 hours of attempting to get service, the operator was rude and was unable to answer my questions with any clarity. Im simply just trying to activate my service in my new home. ”

This is a total scam
“ Smartenergy offers 25 cents per KwH whereas PSG&G offers 12 cents per KwH. The only difference to offset the additional cost comes thru the $100 rebale. It takes 2 months to enroll and 2 months to cancel. THese were cleverly sent out in the spring or fall so thast they get your 25 cents per KwH when your expenses increase based on your heat and cooling needs for summer/winter. NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH FIXED INCOMES! ”

Xoom is hiding your rate information
“ Thought Xoom was like all the others competing. NO. They are hiding your bill. Don't believe me, go to there site and look for yourself. You can't find the invoice but they make it easy to charge your credit card with no backup. ”

Beware, will break contract
“ Company broke gas contract with a fixed rate of $3.089 per MCF. Last bill with them was over double the rate, at $7.25. Would avoid this company at all costs. ”
